About This Event
An accomplished composer and educator, Dr. Cedric Adderley, has served as
president of the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts & Humanities
since 2015. Over the course of his tenure, he has launched new programs,
established statewide partnerships, led the campus through reaffirmation of
accreditation, and secured funding for over $16 million in capital projects for
new construction and renovation of campus buildings.
With an extensive background in accreditation, faculty development, and
general education reform, he has established an impressive record of
leadership and scholarship in the arts and higher education. Throughout his
career, his cutting-edge strategies have increased enrollment, improved
learning outcomes, and brought academic units back to positions of stability
and distinction.
Having initiated the Presidential Priority recruitment initiative at the
Governor’s School, his efforts have enrolled and graduated students from all
46 counties of the state and established outreach partnerships in Title I
schools and underserved communities all over South Carolina. Prior to his
appointment at the Governor’s School, he served as the Academic Dean at
Capital University in Columbus, Ohio and held both faculty and
administrative positions at Claflin University and Benedict College.
